Classic Conservatories Wins International Competition
Date: 04/20/05
Classic Conservatories with corporate headquarters in Union, N.J. has won the International Award for Design Excellence in the UK Conservatory Competition, sponsored by Europe's leader in conservatory systems.
Their entry was picked from hundreds of others by an independent judging panel, which consisted of the Chief Technical Officer of the GGF (Glass and Glazing Federation ), a representative from the BBA (British Board of Agrement) and leading trade magazines. It was chosen on the grounds that not only did it complement the adjoining property but also enhanced it's surroundings.
About The Project
"Our professional Design team has been offered many challenges from the "Modest" to the "Magnificent" here in the U.S. However, faced with the very particular requirements of the homeowner, most companies would have walked away from this one. Fortunately for the family and our company the combination of Peter Leeming (V.P. of National Sales) design experience who visualized the finished product; working closely with Brian Adams' technical expertise (Director of Operations) we were able design and fulfill the homeowners dream".
Our manufacturing facility actually produced the entire room unglazed and assembled it on the factory floor in England, various elements were photographed then adjustments and modifications were made to compensate for on - site irregularities recorded by the survey and design team.
The room design had another unusual feature a "Lantern Style" roof. Calculations had to be made to ensure "long - term structural stability" and ventilation of the vertical walls without impacting the usable floor space, also the free flow of rainwater, as the "Lantern Style" roof runs parallel to the house wall. Fortunately Classic Conservatories Management has extensive experience with this type of installation in the U.S. - our recommendations were passed to our factory in Europe and the final fit was perfect.
The Piece De' Resistance' the additional options included custom made stained glass. The finished conservatory covering several hundred square feet of floor area, was unlike any other and reflects the creative vision of the homeowner who enthused "The finished room is stunning!".
Chris Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Classic Conservatories stated, "With hundreds of companies installing thousands of rooms all over the world this is a true recognition of our quality and professionalism. I would like to commend our staff and express our gratitude to the family for placing their confidence in Classic Conservatories". Classic Conservatories was presented with their Award at The Glassex Glazing Industry Exhibition, in England, at the end of March.
